Devil tattoos can be an actual picture of the presumed medieval representation that are represented by a horn beast with a sharp goatee and a forked tail as is the case of the tattoo in the picture. But, this is only the popular conception of the devil. The true symbol for the prince of darkness is the goat head, which is interestingly enough, also the symbol for Capricorn. This symbol goes by the name Baphomet and is believed to be the invention of a 16th century monk. It really didn’t gain popularity as a devil tattoo, until it’s use by writer Aleister Crowley. It’s interesting to note however, that neither representation of Satan is considered to be really bad. I mean even among satanist, the devil tattoo is considered a symbol for sexual power or lust. And many people get the devil tattoo to show that they have a side to their nature which is somewhat devilish. For me, the devil tattoo in the picture isn’t all that ominous looking. I personally think that the tattoo artist went too far with the deep reds of this design. I would have mixed it up a bit and added some other shades. From a distance this design must look like a big red blob!

devil tattoos
There are many types and styles of devil tattoos and this is one of the simpler ones. Not much more than a red face with horns and a pair of dice to represent the sins of gambling. Or is it that the person who got this tattoo just loves to play dice, but recognizes that it’s a game of the devil’s? You decide.
