The mermaid tattoo is one of the old standbys and seems to have been around forever. A popular nautical symbol, a Mermaid is a legendary creature thought to be half human woman, and half fish. And while there was something sexy about that, most of the old folklore regarding mermaids deals more with sailors being lured out into the water by them, where they would then drown. In most all of the mythology unions between mermaids and the sailors they fall in love with, almost always end tragically. But if you find mermaids to be cute or even sexy go ahead and get a mermaid tattoo. Why not?
The Mermaid is an enduring mythological figure and symbol and has been around for thousands of years in many different cultures. Early mermaid legends can be traced back nearly five thousand years to the Mediterranean. In Greek mythology, mermaid-like creatures make their appearance. And then made an appearance in nearly every other culture that had made any real headway in sailing. Perhaps they should be thought of as nothing more than a very lonely sailor’s fantasy. A lot of these sailors probably got a mermaid tattoo just to have something that represented a woman to look at.
Here’s cute and rather large mermaid tattoo on the right side of somebody’s butt. It’s a very simple tattoo with nothing really special about it accept that it’s a mermaid. I think every man has had some fantasy about a mermaid at one time or another and that’s why men tend to like a mermaid tattoo.
