Neck Tattoos

More and more people are getting adorned with a neck tattoo. And why not? They are some really cool neck design tattoos out there and the neck can be a great canvas to display that ink. But, there are a few things to keep in mind when getting a neck tattoo. One, it’s a highly visible part of the body and very difficult to hide. So, if you go to a job interview, how is your potential employer going to look upon it? Believe it or not there are still some people who look down on tattooing as being trashy. So, it may hamper your ability to get a certain job, especially if it’s in a field that is high profile or deals with the public. They don’t call neck tattoos ‘job blockers’ for nothing. Another thing to consider is how is your friends and family going to react to it. I’m sure that there are going to be at least one or two people who tell you that you shouldn’t get it. And there will probably be a few who say, after you have gotten it, that you shouldn’t have gotten. But, if you have weighed all these factors carefully and decide that you still want one, then by all means go out and get a neck tattoo. After all it’s your body.

This is a nice little neck tattoo. A heart on top of a heart on top of a heart. I’m not sure what it is meant to mean to this person, if anything. The artwork is lower end but good enough for what this neck tattoo is. And of course this tattoo is one of those that few people will ever notice. More of a personal thing.

Tattoo Ideas

Tattoo Ideas
tattoo ideas
This image is a sheet with some tattoo ideas on it. Both ideas include a set of dice along with some nautical stars. I am not sure what they are suppose to mean together but I would think that the dice alone stand for gambling of one sort or another. Perhaps it is intended to stand for gambling and partying among the stars, like in Las Vegas or Atlantic City. After all one of these images has the dice and starts intertwined with a martini glass so that is where I get the partying thing from. And then we have the other image which has flames with the stars and dice, so its anybody’s guess really.

One possible explanation is that these tattoos represent something entirely different and that the dice are there because the numbers on them are meaningful, like some ones birth date or something like that. I am not convinced of that because the numbers on the dice are different from one image to the next. But again, it doesn’t really matter. I am sure these tattoo ideas stand for something that means something to someone and that is all that does matter.

Here’s a bunch of tattoo ideas that are obviously built around the theme of love. Hearts of many shapes and styles, flowers, girls, lips and other stuff. These are the kind of tattoos people who have recently fell in love tend to get. And that is probably the worst time to get a tattoo. And if you think about it you will know that to be true.

Tribal Tattoo Designs

Tribal Tattoo Designs
tribal tattoo designs
This tattoo is almost typical of what one might see today when looking at tribal tattoo designs. And this one might also be a little more intricate and just a bit more busy than a lot of the tribal tattoos you will find. A design made to be worn from the shoulder to the elbow, this tattoo probably has its origins in some real South Pacific tribe where the warriors of the tribe would wear such things. I don’t know what they all stood for but I am pretty certain that this would have been the type that marked a tribal warrior. It may also have marked what tribe he belonged to, as many did a very long time ago.

Truth is that many of the people who come up with these tribal tattoo designs today have no idea of the meaning behind these tattoos. They are simply imitating an art form that has become very popular around the world, and thus has become profitable. I am sure there are still many tribal tattoo designs out there that have stayed true to their beginning roots but I would not know how to tell which is which. You would need a real expert along for that job.

Here are some tribal tattoo designs that would probably work well on any part of the body. They are all well done and interesting to look at and at the same time they are very simple in nature and I like tattoos that manage to achieve both of those things at once. I don’t think they really stand for anything I think they are just meant to look good and they do.

Sparrow Tattoo

Sparrow Tattoo
sparrow tattoo
In looking up the meaning of a sparrow tattoo I found that the meanings are varied and there are so many of them that there is really no telling which may mean more than the other. Perhaps they are all equal and only really matters to the person who has the sparrow tattoo on their body, like this colorful blue and red sparrow as shown in this picture.

Some of the claimed meanings behind the sparrow tattoo were, men who have sparrows tattooed on their hands when released from prison saying that it symbolizes freedom. There are gangs that use sparrow tattoos as a symbol that they will do anything they want and will follow no ones rules. A sparrow is also said to be a symbol of finding true love, perhaps because sparrows are one of the few birds to only choose one mate in their entire life. There are also some tattoo artists who put sparrows on themselves as a way of drawing away evil spirits they believe may come to them because of the nature of some of the tattoos they do. These are only a few of the meanings out of many more that are out there. Personally I think mostly it represents a certain type of freedom and in truth if you like the sparrow tattoo it doesn’t matter what someone may think it stands for.

So who decides to finally get a tattoo and decides to get a sparrow tattoo? I don’t know. I wouldn’t pick that. It just seems too simple. But perhaps the symbolism of flight and freedom was something very important to this person at the time of getting this sparrow tattoo. If that was the case then good for them.

Sexy Tattoos

Sexy Tattoos
sexy tattoos
There are numerous factors that determine whether a tattoo is sexy or not. One, is the placement of the sexy tattoo. Prime placement locations include the hip, upper thigh and the breast. But, other locations can also be a good spot for a sexy tattoo. Personally, I think that a tattoo on the foot or wrist is sexier then hell. The next thing to consider is the symbolism of the tattoo in question. Fruits, especially strawberries and cherries can be surprisingly sexual. Their dark red flesh and juicy disposition just allude to their innate carnality. Some consider the size of the tattoo an indication of whether it will be sexy or not. But, I don’t believe that to be the case. Whether it’s a small piece or a full length sleeve it really doesn’t matter. I have seen full body pieces that were just as sexy on the female form as small pieces. It all depends on the skill of the artist. I would consider one more small detail before getting a sexy tattoo, however. And that is how it’s going to look thirty or forty years from now. How sexy is it going to be then?

Sexy Tattoos

Determining if certain tattoos are sexy tattoos or not is really a very difficult thing to do. At best, all one can do is determine if a tattoo is sexy to them or not and in all fairness I cannot really decide what is sexy to anyone else. As far as this tattoo goes I would have to say this is a pretty sexy tattoo and for me it is obvious why. And that is because this girl has a nice looking stomach with nicely curved hips and when I see that with a pretty nice tattoo than for me that is sexy. How is it for you? Is this not one of the sexy tattoos for you as well?

I like sexy tattoos as much as the next guy. In fact, for me, most any tattoo on a girl is sexy. I pretty much like them all. Some I prefer much more than others and of course there is always that thing about the girl herself who can be so good looking that she makes everything else look good too. And in that case, that type of girl can make ugly tattoos look like sexy tattoos. The girl in this picture may be one of those girls but there is no way to tell.

Butterflies Tattoos

Now the artist that put together this collection of butterflies tattoos really has something on the ball. He is one fine artist. His attention to detail is exceptional and hopefully his work as a tattoo artist is every bit as good. This collection features many, many different butterflies and many of those have eyes in the wings. Eyes that seem to be looking right at us. They really do. Like all knowing, all seeing eyes. When looking at them I get the feeling that they are the eyes of something like an angel or even a God. Something that is looking over me and watching out for me. Just for me. That might sound weird but it is what I feel.

When I look into the eyes of one of these tattoos I find myself sitting and staring at the same set of eyes for several seconds. Almost as if there were a connection between us. Something that I know is not there but feels like it is just the same. If getting butterflies tattoos like these can get that feeling across than it would be a very cool thing to have one of these for sure. I like these butterflies tattoos.

A whole page of butterflies tattoos stands before us here. And it includes several different types of butterflies and some of them are very imaginative. The one that appears to be the eyes of some sort of cat is very interesting and the one in the top left corner that looks as if its some sort of ninja weapon is pretty cool too.

Shoulder Tattoo

Shoulder Tattoo
shoulder tattoo
Shoulder tattoo designs have great potential for superb artwork since the body canvas involved is flat and accessible making it friendly for artist’s needles. The shoulder tattoo in the picture is a perfect example of what I’m talking about. It utilizes the area very well with a whole lot of color. Would this shoulder tattoo be half as impressive if it was done on the calf or forearm? I don’t think so. That is why, careful planning should be done when deciding what designs to go for shoulder tattoos as you would not want to waste such a precious area. Start by pointing out first why you want to get a tattoo. Do you want to project a part of your personality or do you want to convey a certain message? Or maybe you want to honor a loved one who passed away. Just make sure that once you have decided on one, it has meanings for you so you would not regret it in the end. Plus, what makes tattoos great are the stories behind them. With very careful planning you can get a shoulder tattoo that blows everybody out of the water and is worthy of this very important piece of human canvas.

Obviously there are many types of shoulder tattoos. And this one is a pretty wild looking one. I can make out a wild looking claw of some sort of creature but I can’t tell from the photo what that creature may be. Probably a dragon but I can’t say for sure. It is however a very nice piece of artwork done by a competent artist.

Sun Tattoos

Sun Tattoos
sun tattoos
The sun tattoo is preferred by many because it has a number of symbolic meanings that can be adapted by every person to describe a personal philosophy or innate inner personality traits. Some people may choose a sun tattoo because it’s the symbol of light and knowledge. Often, the sun tattoo can be interpreted as the light of knowledge that shines on the darkness of ignorance. This interpretation is, naturally, preferred by intellectuals or those who consider themselves enlightened. The sun can also represent the cycle of life to many individuals. These people get sun inspired designs to remind them to live everyday as if the sunset is fast approaching. They live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment to the fullest extent possible. One of the most popular interpretations is the sun tattoo as a symbol of sexual fertility and prowess. This goes back to ancient Canaan where the sun-god Baal was also worshiped as a fertility deity. And if paired with a moon tattoo, the sun tattoo even goes deeper into its sexual interpretation. A pairing of a moon and a sun tattoo depicts the union between male and female, both sexually and spiritually.

Here is another of the many styles of sun tattoos. This one with a kind looking face as the sun seems to be shining brightly and spreading its life giving warmth over the earth. The sun was worshiped for thousands of years for being such a life giver and also feared greatly believing it could also take it away.

There are many indian tattoos out there and this is one of the better looking ones. A regal indian chief in a full head dress, staring outward in deep thought. This is very well drawn and simply colored to the point of making it more realistic. This basically brown color does a good job of creating a feeling of the old west.

Phoenix Tattoos

Phoenix Tattoos
phoenix tattoos
Phoenix tattoos are very powerful and have deep meaning for a lot of people. Since they are symbols of rebirth, people that have overcome a certain obstacle or battle in their life, or were faced with a life threatening situation or illness that made them change their outlook on life, may be quick to get a phoenix tattoo. The phoenix was an important bird in ancient Egypt, Greece, China and Middle Eastern cultures. The phoenix gets it’s name from Greek culture where the term means "red" which is used for the color of fire. The phoenix was a beautiful red bird that was said to live for over 500 years. Greek historians believed that the phoenix came from Ethiopia. Egyptians named the phoenix Benu and they worshiped it as a sun god. In ancient China the phoenix was known as the feng-huang bird which was able to unite marriage as well as the yin and yang. Some other versions of the phoenix stories include that the phoenix would fly to great lengths to gather herbs, and set them on fire along with itself only to rise again three days later. So, as you can see, the phoenix tattoo has great cultural and symbolic meaning. How does this design fit into you personal body ink style.

Phoenix Tattoos

Some phoenix tattoos will cover most of a persons back like this one does. But most phoenix tattoos are better than this one. The artwork is okay here but the coloring is very flat and the only thing good I can say about it is that the artist did manage to stay within the lines. But I do like the long tail feathers and the shapes of eyes in them. That part is nice.
