Scorpion Tattoos
No other tattoo symbolizes power and danger more then the scorpion tattoo. The scorpion has long been a revered symbol among many middle eastern cultures. The scorpion has long an symbol of treachery, death, danger, pain, wickedness, hatred and envy. It’s tail delivers a poison that is not only painful but is certainly deadly to small animals, the elderly and children. From all over the world, Scorpion legends tell of the stinging tail serving as a weapon and for protection. Scorpion amulets are still worn for protection in places like Tibet and Egypt. The Egyptian goddess, Isis, had giant scorpions as bodyguards. Other ancient cultures had the scorpion guarding gateways to the underworld, sacred gateways and tombs. Orion, the Greek hero and giant, met his match in a Scorpion encounter. With the sting stuck in his foot, he was thereafter immortalized as the constellation of Orion fleeing the sting of his Scorpion killer. Scorpion tattoos are meant to protect the bearer of the tattoo and ward off both the sting of the scorpion and often times, evil spirits. For the scorpion is widely feared and highly respected by all beings, both natural and supernatural. What other creature has such power?
Scorpion Tattoos
Some scorpion tattoos take a little more artistic license than others and this is one of the latter. This is a very large, almost comic-book-like scorpion that even has an evil face drawn out over it’s head. It is obviously a large tattoo and the coloring and other things about the scorpion are a bit hokey looking but overall it still looks great. Nice work!
