Over the last dozen or so years shooting star tattoos seem to have become a more and more popular form of tattoo. Obviously, there are many different variations of shooting star tattoos. They can be easily incorporated into different tattoo styles and are usually tattooed on the arms, shoulders, ankles or abdomen. A lot of people seem to be getting shooting star tattoos because it expresses their inner desire to be a star themselves. Perhaps it is the pop culture of today that feeds into this desire, but whatever it is, it is certainly getting a lot more people to get shooting star style tattoos.

Shooting star tattoos can also symbolize a brief moment in ones life just like the brief wonder one gets when witnessing a shooting star as it races across the night sky. They are also thought to be a symbol of reaching ones ultimate destiny, though I cannot be sure where that thinking comes from. In short, I am not certain that there is a single meaning to shooting star tattoos. With this particular design, much more than others, I have found that most people who get them simply think they look cool and threaten no one, so why not get one. Why not, indeed.

There are many variations of shooting star tattoos and some of them are simpler than others. This is one of those rather simple ones, but it gets the point across just the same. It’s pretty easy to tell what it is as soon as you see it and for me that’s a big part of having a good tattoo. Although some people don’t care what other people see, and that’s cool too.
