The symbolism of a skull in a tattoo is strong and varies immensely, from meaning death and doom, or even a mean victory over death. Or the skull as a religious symbol as it was used by the saints St. Francis of Assisi and St. Jerome. Skulls can signify forgiveness, or can mean destruction and hateful vengeance. Whatever the intended meaning of the wearer, the skull is always linked to life and death. It’s simply a very powerful image to have in a tattoo, because the image of a skull is so strongly associated with life and death no one who sees a skull tattoo can ignore it. Pirates have the jolly Roger, Adolf Hitler’s SS men had the skull as an image and both bikers and many secret societies have skulls in their imagery. There is such a huge variety of skull images out there and so much you can do with your own skull tattoo design that you aren’t limited in what you can create. When someone wants a unique skull design to themselves, they rarely have any trouble creating one. Surprisingly, there is a lot you can do with the expression on the face of a skull, especially with a very skilled tattoo artist.

Some more skulls tattoos here. Two, to be exact and both are rather large. The one on the left being a terminator style of skull while the one on the right seems to be a bit more cartoonish, with one eye and an arrow of sorts sticking into the center of its forehead. It’s not a very scary skull but it is a little creepy.
