Tattoo art ranges from the complex and intricate designs of tribal and Maori tattoos, to Japanese tattoos, all the way to the modern tattoo. But, when was tattoo art invented? For that you have to travel back a few millennia to get a closer look. the earliest evidence of tattooing in japan is found in the form of clay figurines which have faces painted or engraved to represent tattoo marks. the oldest figurines of this kind have been recovered from tombs dated 3,000 BC or older, and many other such figurines have been found in tombs dating from the second and third millennia BC. These figurines served as stand-ins for living individuals who symbolically accompanied the dead on their journey into the unknown, and it is believed that the tattoo marks had religious or magical significance. The first written record of Japanese tattooing is found in a Chinese dynastic history compiled in 297 AD. The Japanese were interested in the art mostly for its decorative attributes, as opposed to magical ones. Japanese tattoo artists – were the undisputed masters. their use of colors, perspective, and imaginative designs gave the practice a whole new angle. Modern masters have thus elaborated on the tattoo art that has been evolving for a few thousand years now.
The world of tattoo art is as widely different and varied as the amount of plants one could find on this planet. It really is. This image is very good evidence of just that. These two peoples backs are literally covered with tattoo art. Both of which employ many different symbols with many different meanings, all together at one time, and all in one place. The one on the left is primarily the Holy Mother Mary and the one on the right is primarily some sort of dragon, but the many, many other elements to both pieces of artwork would take a great deal of study to actually figure out.
These are the types of tattoos that people get when they are very seriously into the art of tattoos. I would not be surprised if one or both of these people are tattoo artists themselves. Many times, when someone has this amount of ink on them that is the case. They are people who love and breath tattoos and little else occupies their gray matter. But there is certainly nothing wrong with that. I like these big back tattoos and I think they look very attractive on women.
