Tattoo Design

Modern tattoo design is actually a composition of many different cultures from around the world. The Celts brought us the elaborate and intricate weaving’s that can be found in the Celtic crosses and shield knot designs. The Polynesians brought us the stylized renderings that can be found In Maori tattoo work. Asian cultures have brought to us the magic and power of mythical animals such as the tiger, dragon and Koi. North American cultures such as the Sioux and Cherokee tribes have brought powerful totem animals to the table such as the wolf, elk and eagle. Even modern American culture has had an impact on tattoo design with images such as the American flag and adaptations of the heart motifs. So, as you can see tattoo design is not an art that is static or unchanging. Rather it’s a fluid art form that combines the best designs and practices from other disciplines. Getting a new exciting tattoo design in ink on your skin for the first time is not only stimulating, but it also includes us in the ever changing tide of history. Tattoo designs that you get today have evolved over many generations, and future generations will most like add their own special touches.

These are two stand alone tattoo design samples. One of a wild looking, serpent style of dragon and another of a vicious and ready to strike tiger. Of course these could be part of the same tattoo design or they could be two different tattoos altogether. The tattoo world probably has more choices in it than any other thing I can think of.
