This tattoo image is probably a retelling of the famous Japanese tale of the Koi fish that swam against all odd to make it to Dragon’s Gate. When he finally reached it, after much trial and tribulation, then he was rewarded by being turned into a dragon. I love this design as much as I love the story. What would have been a really cool addition to this Koi tattoo image is to have either the mystical gate tattooed with it or the dragon itself. It just goes to show you what can be accomplished with a great artist and a great design.
